URI-LO with 1/8 size ratio of APR-1400, which is a reference type of nuclear power plant exported to UAE, is an experimental facility that can easily adopt various new concepts of passive safety systems to improve safety of nuclear power plants and perform the practical performance tests on them. It is expected that URI-LO can overcome the difficulties in adoption of new technologies and systems to existing nuclear power plants or large experimental facilities, deliver the right information on the safety of nuclear power plants intuitively by simplification and visualization of the system, and promote the export of Korean nuclear power plants.
4th industrial revolution technology-based nuclear innovation platform center presented the next year business plan including design verification using numerical analysis code, trial runs of URI-LO, advancement of URI-LO with 3D printed components, big data measurement by various advanced sensing technologies, which expects URI-LO to carry out research with various ideas for nuclear safety innovation.
